 Post subject: Where to find afforable lawyers?

I have a situation where I need an attorney to handle my father's estate. The problem I am having is my father does not have enough money to pay full price for an attorney. I was wondering if there are any special programs that are available for people who have a limited income. So far I have talked to friends and family who said I should call attorneys in the phone book and ask if they work pro bono, but I have not been successful. Does anyone have any advice?

Depending upon what state you are in, you should first contact the local bar association. Lawyers must provide a certain amount of legal work "pro bono" to maintain their good standing with their respective state licensing board.
