Post subject: How to prepare my home for a quick sale? Posted: Mon Sep 10, 2007 5:13 am |

I am in the process of selling my house that I have lived in for 25 years. Unfortunately, I haven't done much to it over the years and realize I need to spend several months getting it ready to be put on the market. So far I have painted the walls and ceiling. I even trimmed the bushes and took the time to get the weeds out of my garden. I know there is much more I need to do. I was hoping someone could provide me with a list of things to make my home presentable to buyers. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My suggestion is to make sure you clean your house very thoroughly. This means getting rid of cluttered areas and organizing closet and shelves. Getting rid of clutter will help make your home appear larger, brighter, and a more friendly atmosphere for buyers.
When I was helping my mother sell her house, we went so far as to rent a storage unit and we put all her unused furniture in there. We also packed boxes full of clothing, dishes, books, CD's, etc. This helped us prepare her for the big moving day because half of her stuff was already out of the house.
