Metro The average home price for new construction in the Chicago area last year was 27 percent higher than prices paid for existing homes, according to Chicago Title, which has been tracking such prices for the last seven years. Additionally, Chicago Title said Will County was the most active sub-market last year, with new construction accounting for 41 percent of all home sales.
