Post subject: Can I be present during the home inspection? Posted: Thu Oct 04, 2007 5:24 am |

I am a very curious person and I would like to be present when the inspector comes over to inspect the house. I don't just want to be inside the home when he's there, rather I'd like to actually follow behind him to see what he is inspecting and ask him questions on what he is looking for. I don't want to be a pest or make him feel uncomforable. I just want to educate myself on home structure, maintenance, and repair while he's inspecting. Do you think he or she would mind? What is the proper way to ask him? When he comes over on the day of the inspection or prior to his scheduled appointment? What do you think?

I think you should not feel at all awkward about walking through the home with the inspector. I wouldn't be shy about asking any questions either. They are being paid to provide a service. Chances are the potential home buyer or their agent will be present so why shouldn't you be?
