I have a basement and I'm thinking of finishing the basement walls. Is this something I can do myself? What are some things that I need to do to install the walls properly? So far I have looked at the walls to see if there are any cracks or leakage of moisture coming in, which there is none. The house is also relatively new so the structure is solid.

One of the reasons why I want to finish the basement is because I want to increase the value of my home. I think a nice finished basement would be considered an extra room in the house and if I were to sell the house in the future, buyers will look more favorably at my house in comparison to other houses in the market. Am I right?

This is definitely something you can do yourself, but moisture control and ventilation is something you have to consider. Depending on your area, there may be some special insulation and ventilation requirements. Basically, you need to make sure that there is area between the actual concrete wall and your wall so that moisture doesn't collect and cause larger problems. I would just consult a contractor for your area specific regulations and best practices.
