MS Virtual Earth added to PropertyMaps.com
I’ve added MS Virtual Earth for IE7 users. If you go to the main mapper page, and are using IE7, you will see a button on the upper right corner that allows you to switch between Google Maps and MS Virtual Earth (Google Maps is the default).
Comparing the APIs of the two mapping applications, I see that Google is much more flexible (and powerful) and MS VE is more rigid, has fewer API calls, and is generally easier to use. However, simple things like event handlers for pushpin clicks have been left out of the API, forcing me to hack my own solution. MS VE is on version 4, yet lacks this most basic of API calls which boggles the mind.
Writing the application with MS VE required fewer lines of code, but I prefer the power and flexibility of the Google Maps API. Below are screenshots of the two map engines displaying the same housing data.
