Zip Code Polygons
I guess the official Google Maps API blog has stopped announcing new version numbers of the GMAPI so I’ve been .06 versions behind on the API.
I did notice that since 2.69, Polygons have been added which is a big plus. I’ve been working on my own implementation of Polygons that I’ll have to toss, but oh well.
Here is an updated version of the zip code mapper using polygons.

Polygons.
Finally polygons have been added to the Google API. Hooray!

I love your Zip Code Polygons. Can this be linked to or used on other sites?
Sure, you can link to it or use it on your own site. If you decide to use it on your site, a link back to propertymaps.com would be appreciated.
Are the ZIP Code polygons hand-drawn or do they come from some other source? What about ZIP Codes in shapefile format?
I would recommend http://www.zipcodesmapped.com/ for any US zip code map.
You can use this to find any US zip code maps. You can search by (City, State OR Zip). they have all the maps showing zip codes and major mile streets in all of the united states. The service is free. Search for five Digit Zip Code and find the Maps for all 50 states. A Free ZIP Code Finder which can do wonders for you.
Does Google really provide the zip code polygon data? We’ve been looking for it and can’t find it.
The polygons, as opposed to just polylines, have been added to the Google API. To get the zip code / county data, I had to grab that from the US Census Bureau and construct the polygons myself. Google does not provide this data.
I like the polygons as well. Mid-FL Regional MLS has this on our Search (Realtor access) and makes the search much more refine.

Hello -
I would like to do something very similar for a future site I will be building. It is not related to real estate, however, I really need to be able to display counties and zips with relevant information.
The Tiger docs are large, and was wondering if you could point me to which files you used for this county/zip. That could really cut down my learning curve and focus it in the proper direction.
I was wondering if you are offering any of your code/knowledge as open source.
Thank you very much and you have a very forward thinking and executing web site.
Hello!!! Great Project!!!!
I tried to use it in a project im building myself, but I cant make it work. WOuld you have a code to share? I just need to highligh the border of the entered zipcode. Putting a slight color inside could be pretty good as well.
Thank you very much!
